In Memory of…Nancy Dougall Lowenthal
August 1, 1923-March 17, 2016

From childhood on, Chesapeakes were always by Nancy’s side.  She became a legendary dog trainer and breeder, and had two of the first Champion UD bitches in our breed.   Nancy was instrumental in the west coast expansion of the American Chesapeake Club and published several articles on the breed.   In 2002, she and Les, her husband of 60 years, received the American Chesapeake Club Lifetime Achievement Award.  She truly was a great woman loved by many.

In Memory of John Ackerman
October 20, 1946 – August 11, 2016

John was a Vietnam-era Naval Officer, expert Mining Engineer and accomplished Computer Consultant,  but most of all, John was an avid and life-long supporter of the Chesapeake Bay Retriever.  John’s intellect and knowledge, combined with his love of this breed, led to a lifetime of achievements and friendships within the Chesapeake Bay Retriever community.

John owned and trained numerous Chesapeake Bay Retrievers over the years including AFC Hurricane's Express Courier, Neutron's Meg's Hurricane Express Beau, and, his favorite to the end, Hurricane's Express Courier Trooper.

John was passionate about the field trial sport.  He was kind and generous and was a mentor to many of us who shared his passion for our dogs and competitive field trails.  He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

Dual CH AFC Yakity's Shake Rattle 'N' Roll

Comet was a dream come true for her owners and breeders. Linda Harger and Tom Ivy were blessed with a true Comet, a Star shining bright. Her achievements were many. She earned 86 all age points by the age of eight and was a six time national qualifier . Comet brought honor to the breed - she was a fierce competitor, hard working, and an outstanding example of conformation. Our breed suffered a great loss with her early passing, yet we all have her memory and the pride she brought to each of us. God speed Comet....gone to soon.
