Air flights: Contestants and/or their dogs can fly into Duluth or the Twin Cities
(Minneapolis/St Paul) Airport. Rental cars are available in both
locations. A regional carrier serves the Hibbing airport but I'm
pretty certain that they don't take dogs. Many airlines now use
smaller planes and all flights don't take an XL crate so please book
air flights carefully.
Driving
time: from Duluth to the trial grounds is approximately one
hour. The driving time from the Minneapolis Airport is 3 1/2 hours.
Directions to the Park Hotel from
Minneapolis-St Paul Airport:

Begin on Hwy 5 heading northeast about 3.8 miles.
2. Bear left on Hwy 35E heading north for about
23.3 miles to Forest Lake.
3. Continue on Hwy 35 heading north for about
110 miles to Cloquet.
4. Take Hwy 33 heading north for about 19 miles.
5. Bear left on Hwy 53 heading north for about
31 miles.
6. Turn left on Hwy 37 heading west for about 19
miles to Hibbing.
7. Turn right onto Hwy 169 heading northeast for
about 2 miles. The Hibbing Park Hotel will be on the left side.

Pre-Trial Training Grounds - The
beautiful property of Lorraine and Larry Sarek is being offered for
training before and during the trial. It is 85 acres with 5 ponds
and is 35 miles north of the trial grounds.

Excellent training areas will
be available in and around the Virginia/Hibbing area. Directions
will be available at the front desk of the Headquarters Hotel
starting on Friday before the event. Although they will be
available on a first-come/first-served basis, these grounds are
substantial and should be able to accommodate multiple training
groups. Please exercise common sense and good manners. If
appropriate, invite others to join your group. Additional grounds
used by the Duluth Retriever Club to host its annual licensed trial
will be made available to ACC members on the weekend before the
Specialty. The drive time from the Headquarters hotel to the Duluth
grounds is approximately 90 minutes. Please contact John Nichols if
you would like to use the Duluth properties.
